I too use (alkyd and normal) oils, in part, and could talk painting methods all day. Very eager to be along for the figurative ride since there are always interesting things to learn and try.

Best Regards,

StokesWSTKS-FM Worldwidehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14173042438761572040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4596685140059117184.post-29428648852931238822018-04-15T22:48:24.844+01:002018-04-15T22:48:24.844+01:00Graham,

I followed your instructions, just a touch of oil colour, mixed with liquin. The black gaiters, hat etc in particular look almost gloss in finish.
Am I jumping the gun here ? Do you use a matt varnish or some medium at a later date to tone down the shine ? Or have I applied too much oil ?

Graham Hilditchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06062886627074192318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4596685140059117184.post-87685492688272963152018-04-10T22:21:17.272+01:002018-04-10T22:21:17.272+01:00Graham,

You will get a feel for it after a few attempts and when you are using it on the figure. Too thin add a little more oil paint, too thick add more liquin.

Cheers

John
John Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02449124628273885977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4596685140059117184.post-26208101627239357902018-04-08T19:33:40.331+01:002018-04-08T19:33:40.331+01:00Looking forward to more updates.
